FAQ

How can I get involved?

Click on the "Participate" tab above to check out our list of opportunities. You can volunteer alone, or bring your family members and friends. We provide training when needed. I'm not familiar with HfLB's partners.

I'm not familiar with HfLB's partners. Do I have to volunteer with these partners?

HfLB developed partnerships with several organizations because we think Grace volunteers can be more effective when we're focused on a few things. However, if you have a passion or ability that fits with a different organization, we encourage you to branch out and take others with you.

Can I suggest volunteer activities to Hope for Long Beach?

Certainly. Contact director Eric Marsh at 562-595-6881 x207 or emarsh@gracelb.org

What else can I do if I really can't make it to Hope for Long Beach events?

Serve where you live. You don't have to volunteer with an agency to be generous. Start where you live or work. Open up your home for a neighborhood dinner, invite the elderly lady across the street over for dessert, take a walk and engage in conversation with people. We are called to be a church not only on Sunday mornings but on the weekdays, too.

Why are you helping Long Beach instead of places in the world with more needs, like war zones and impoverished nations?

The Grace Brethren community is committed to helping those in need, regardless of where they're from. We have a long-term relationship with charitable communities in Burkina Faso and Uganda, for example. But we also believe we should live out the gospel where we live, and the city of Long Beach has numerous needs we can meet.

I don't go to Grace Brethren. Can I still join one of your volunteer activities?

Yes. Contact director Eric Marsh at 562-595-6881 x207 or emarsh@gracelb.org
