HfLB organizes two church-wide volunteer events every year: Serve the City (Saturday, May 16 - click here to sign up) and the Halloween community carnival (see photos from the '08 carnival).

In addition, we welcome you to join our volunteers to serve at partner organizations throughout the year. Volunteer alone, or volunteer with family members and friends!

Hillcrest Care Center is a residential facility for the elderly and patients with multiple sclerosis. Volunteers visit every week to play music and help residents with their speech/communication needs.

Padua House is a home for men who are living with AIDS in Long Beach. Volunteers visit every other week to hang out with the guys and build relationships.

Precious Life is a shelter for pregnant women in danger of being homeless. Volunteers host three dinner parties every month.

Find more opportunities by checking out our list of partners.

And of course, you donít have to volunteer with an agency to be generous. Start where you live or work. Open up your home for a neighborhood dinner, invite the elderly lady across the street over for dessert, take a walk and engage in conversation with people.

2 Corinthians 9:11-15
You will be enriched in every way for all your generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission flowing from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!
